Congrats to Coach Windy!

IMG_6988.JPGThis 2017 Track Season was very exciting for Coach Windy!

In April during the Stanford Invitational, she had PR’s (personal records) in both the hurdles and long jump! Racing 14.54 in the 100m hurdles and jumping 18’5 3/4′!  That was a terrific beginning of the season. She continued her season anchoring the 4x100m relay to a school record and at the statemeet raced her best in the 100mh  in 14.47.  Biggest accomplishment of the year was winning the long jump in the North Coast Section Championship in 19’1 3/4! Congrats Coach Windy!

Her focus has been very good. Warming up well, doing her form drills and remembering her good posture!

Her good attitude and good sportsmanship shows, too- you will see that after her races and competition she says “good job” to her competitors and she thanks the Track Officials for working the events! Yay! That is our Jackrabbit Track Club way 🙂

SAVE THE DATE! Kids 200 Meter Race at the Eaton/Warren Invitational~ Fri. Apr 28 ~ 6pm!

200m Race with your age group!!

Friday April 28th at 6pm

 KIDS 200 Meter Race

in the Eaton/Warren Invitational 2017

Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California

This is a fantastic experience for your kids to race and experience a track meet!

We are given 15 minutes to rally 8 races during the High School track meet.

Coach Joy & Coach Windy will meet you by the Snack Shack by the track at 5:30pm. There, we will divide into our age groups and then walk out to the track in orderly fashion to the start of the 200meters. Each race will be run separately:  4 & under, 5 year olds, 6 year olds, 7 year olds, etc. (combination of ages is a possibility if there are not a lot in one age group to fill the lanes)

The kids will race to the end of the 200m and the parents will meet them at the finish. For younger kids (1-5 yrs) that do not want to run by themselves, a parent may run with them.

After the race, we must get off the track because the next event will begin immediately.

ARRIVE EARLY there will be many team buses, vans & cars. Meet Coach Joy & Coach Windy at 5:30pm to sign up. Bring a friend, too! You do not need to be a Jackrabbit to race in the Kids 200m Race, but wear your Jackrabbit Team shirt if you can! Yay Team!

This meet is terrific to watch too!  Your children will love to see the Track & Field events that they have learned in Jackrabbits! They know good running form, they know the terms and rules of many events, so seeing this sport in action with High School athletes competing will be a great experience all around!

YES! Practice Rain or Shine :-)

Jackrabbits-

Remember we practice rain or shine… just make sure to bring a towel for after practice to put down in your car when you go home.  🙂

Many track and sporting events are not cancelled due to rain, so it is important to know that yes, we do get wet, but we still can run and have fun! (In fact, many of our rainy day practices have been favorites of the kids!) Yay!

3 World Titles for Coach Joy!

Coach Joy recently returned from the 2016 World Masters Track & Field Championships!

The Championships were held in Perth, Australia:  www.perth2016.com

Over 4000 masters competitors aged 35+ raced, jumped or threw in their respected age groups. Coach Joy, age 55, competed for Team USA in the 300 meter hurdles, 80 meter hurdles and the long jump. She won all of her individual events in very exciting races! Her times and marks were her best this season.

She was also asked to race in the 4x100m relay and the 4x400m relay where both teams earned silver medals!

Coach Joy attributes her wins to using her Jackrabbits running form and remembering to have good attitude: thanking the Officials and congratulating her teammates & competitors.  🙂
