Schedule

8:10 AM: Registration Opens

8:35-8:50 AM: Kids’ Clinic Check-In

Parents can check their kids in at the Kids’ Running Clinic. The kids will be learning from Bay Area Track Club Athletes. Once your child is checked in, you are encouraged to head to the starting line of the adult race.

9:00-10:00AM: Running of the Bulls 5k Fun Run and Walk

The 5k (3.1 mile) road race begins at Gunn High School, winds its way through local tree-lined streets, and finishes in a sprint down the Gunn track. This fun run features Local runners in bull and cow costumes who “chase” participants to the finish. Our Bulls leave the start in timed intervals after the runners’ main start. Run or walk, you’re bound to rub hooves with a Bull or Cow along the way. Every finisher who beats a cow or bull earns a raffle entry qualifying them to win a fabulous prize. The more bulls you beat to the finish line, the more raffle tickets you receive, and the more chances to win! Teams can race as centipedes, and everyone is welcome to come in costume (the sillier, the better!). We also happily welcome jogger strollers.

10:00am – Running of the Calves Kids Races for All Kids 12 and Under

The showcase event of the day. The Running of the Calves Races, paced by the “Bulls” and “Cows”, are for all kids 10 and under. Kicking off with a “diaper derby” for the littlest kids on all fours, each age-group race is a dash around the Gunn Track. Hosted by Coach Joy of the Jackrabbits’ Track and Field Club and the Bay Area Track Club, the Running of the Calves Races are well-organized yet informal enough to put fun first and give every child a chance to shine. The first race the diaper dash starts right after 10AM. The last race (the 10 and 11 y/o 800m) normally finishes around 10:50AM.

Come to the KIDS Half Lapper RACE! At the Stanford Invitational! 3/20

On March 30th, The Stanford Invitational track meet is having the Lori Maynard Kids Half Lapper Race!! 11:30am!!

Come run a 200meter Race on Stanford’s Track just for Kids! We meet by the brick Information building by the track. Meet Coach Joy & Coach Windy by the Palm Tree by 11;30am. (Races begin at 11:50 SHARP) We will divide the kids into Age Groups ( 5 & under, 6 year olds, 7 year olds, etc…up to 11year olds!) Have a little warm up..then we walk over- in a line-as a group to the start of the 200meters. Each race is run in front of a very happy & supportive crowd cheering your kids on! Yay!! A highlight of the meet! Parents may be at the start of the race (on track, for the little ones), then when they finish the 200 meter race- they will be by the finish line & you may meet then there. Fun for All!

The Kids Half Lapper is raced during the Invitational where your kids will see Colleges, High Schools & Elite Athletes compete before and after their race! It’s great to see the events they have learned in Jackrabbits!! Javelin, hurdles, long jump,etc.!! (You will be surprised to know how much your Jackrabbits will KNOW about these events!

Please allow time for parking and getting situated. There are a lot of schools attending this Meet.

Hope to see you there! Invite your friends,too! You do not have to be on Jackrabbit Track Club to participate.

Coach Joy selected to staff National Team!

Coach Joy has just been selected to staff the USA National Team to Glasgow, Scotland!

The Five Nations Match is an indoor track meet! She is excited to help coordinate and support some of our Top USA athletes in the World. This is a great honor!

Coach Joy attended USATF/IAAF Academy!

Coach Joy just recently attended the USATF/IAAF Academy for the Jumps at the Olympic Training Center! The week long Academy was taught by High Performance coaches of the World. She is excited to share all the new drills/techniques with all of her classes. It is terrific to learn new things & confirm what you knew, too! Yay!

Coach Joy on “MythBusters”!

Did anyone see the New Episode of MythBusters where they were Long Jumping? Well, Coach Joy got the opportunity to coach the Hosts of the Show how to LONG JUMP!! She had a fun time with them & did get them to jump into the sand!! It was a long day of filming… but Lots of Laughs!!
